A smart system which makes the difference.
No more ad hoc cutting, numbering yourself, manual sorting, searching and waiting. Less waste, stock always and complete projects.
Problem 1
Inefficient nesting due to manual sorting and ad hoc cutting. High cost.
No plate, no work. Daily business for the fitters and welders. Every time arranging for an extra product to be cut. It has become a habit. The project has priority, otherwise the fitter cannot continue. The plate processing machine must be shut down. The missing plate parts need to be cut from another thicker plate. That takes time. These are extra steps. Waiting for each other to continue. There is no more rest on the shop floor. Work does not continue effectively. More waste is created. You can't call it cost saving. That's a problem.
Solution 1Getting work done |
The plate parts are in the storage tower. It is your stock for the next month. That gives peace of mind. Sort by sort. Sorted out on the rubber mats in the drawers. They don't move. The robot automatically places each plate product in the correct storage drawer. Three storage towers is the maximum inventory.
The Voortman Plate Sorter ensures that the plate product is stored in the right place in the storage towers. Manual sorting is a thing of the past. A missing plate part for a project on the welding spot can be retrieved directly from the stock. Project-based working with the right plate products is your new future. Really.
You instruct the Voortman Plate Sorter which plate products belong to your project. One click and the plate parts for your project are automatically sorted. The storage tower, robot and automated (un)stacking unit go to work for you. The bins are filled with the required plate parts for your project. The printer prints out the work order. Done. Get to work.
Problem 2
Unstructured filing away of parts. Papers get lost and no overview in projects or planning.
Piece by piece. Sort by sort. Whether a connection- or base plate, they are stacked. In bins, on a pallet or on the floor. Side by side or mixed. In an endless row. Each product has a number milled by hand or numbered on painter's tape. A good alternative to the papers blown away. The manually sorted plates are not a project. A plate product may not have been cut properly or the holes may have been milled incompletely. Extensive quality control does not happen. Plate processing continues, it just has no scheduling of projects. Overview is lacking.
Solution 2Always overview |
The work continues. Nesting after nesting. Machined plate parts are placed in the bins. Mixed together, until the bin is full. That's it. The preparation for the new way of sorting. Indeed, no more numbering either. The bins are taken to the Voortman Plate Sorter.
The plate products are placed on the conveyor. Piece by piece. Order does not matter. From that point on, the parts are in the hands of the Voortman Plate Sorter. The plates are identified, and the database is large.
No worries. All information about the plate product is stored in the system. The robot picks up each plate product after identification and places them in the tray. Here's the thing. The system knows exactly which plates belong to which project. If you need a plate part, schedule it and the Voortman Plate Sorter will put the right parts in place. Always having an overview.
Problem 3
Products are not on time or incomplete, missing or faulty. No quality control.
Always seeking. Every time looking for the matching plate part for that one beam. Apparently, there is too little stock. Again. The plate part doesn't fit. The wrong size or the quality of your plate part is not good. The beam is ready, but the plates are missing. The plates that are there do not match the beam. Problems will arise during assembly. You don't discover the error until on site. Work will stagnate. First arrange the right plates. The new stock of plate parts has yet to be produced at the cutting department. Then you just must wait. Always waiting.
Solution 3Everyone is relieved. |
Quality. That is your starting point of your stock. It's right. In the Voortman Plate Sorter, your products are identified by a 3D camera. It checks for outer and inner contour, thickness, holes and slotted holes.
A general quality check. If the plate product does not have the correct dimensions or a machining is not there, the product is automatically sorted into the rejection bin. Convenient. During planning, the work preparer is immediately notified if a product is missing. Ideal. Still enough time to arrange the right plate products. Everyone is relieved.
